Roadmachine

The Endurance Formula

Speed. Comfort. Endurance. Versatility. The same elements that bike engineers have relentlessly pursued over the years. With the one-bike collection, we’ve now legitimately pushed the boundaries.

The Most Versatile Road Bike.

We believe the Roadmachine is your perfect bike.

Speed. Comfort. Endurance. Versatility. Capabilities that put a new spin on endurance bikes. The same elements that bike engineers have relentlessly pursued over the years. After adding innovation to heritage, we re-evaluated our endurance formula. The result is a bike that allies serious advancements in stiffness and layup with the most considerate capabilities. Changing the geometry is only half the story.

Yes, it's a Roadmachine.

The endurance formula

Our BMC engineers have dialed in every aspect of the endurance formula to achieve unrivalled comfort for real-world riding. Faster than ever while still entirely appropriate for every surface. You define the limits. Meet the new benchmark.

Road-optimized, all-terrain-approved

Engineering a road bike optimized for 32–35 mm tires with the capability to take 40 mm tires represents evolution, but it required a rethink. With bigger wheels, we tweaked the geometry to stick to the endurance formula: a short rear center, perfect BB placement, and snappy front end for fast riding. The result: A smooth and fast Roadmachine that is as ride-it-all as it gets.

Functionality, integrated

The integrated cockpit solutions, D-shape seatpost, built-in downtube storage under the Integrated Bottle Cage, mounting points, and chain catcher deliver all the integration needed to elevate your ride into a class of its own. For 12 months a year of having it all, whatever the conditions.

Do the Math

The engineers at the BMC Impec Lab utilized their expert understanding of composite layup to create the Roadmachine’s sub-1kg frameset (size 54) with supreme, data-proven compliance and torsional stiffness for a bike that’s not only comfortable but also remarkably fast.

The choice of riders who aren’t willing to be confined to one surface, the Roadmachine brings big tire capabilities to its proven endurance platform to make every ride better. Every early morning rollout more enjoyable. Every hunger knock more bearable. Every broken road smoother. On this go-anywhere road bike, performance-driven details and functional features combine to make sure that your every need is met.

Making every ride better.

Innovation & Technology

Downtube Storage

We obsessed every detail of the downtube to optimally integrate internal storage. Inside, there’s a purpose-designed pouch for on-ride carry. Neatly sealed under drag-reducing bottle cages.

Integrated Rear Light

As you encounter traffic, tunnels and changing conditions, you need an ultra-compact, integrated rear light that’s USB chargeable and easily attached/detached from the seatpost.

TCC Endurance

The Roadmachine takes our TCC Endurance vision further with big wheel capabilities, a dropped BB, adapted head tube angle, increased stack, and one of the industry’s smallest rear centers for a responsive ride.

Stealth Dropouts

Engineered for undisturbed air flow and a fresh, clean look.

For epic challenges, tough roads, mountains and plains, the Endurance machines will get you there, fast.

Q&A

Much bigger tire clearance, downtube storage and improved fender compatibility on the entry level Roadmachine series. What makes the Roadmachine an Endurance bike reference is its geometry that still offers a higher stack but a fast and quick handling riding feel.

In theory, making the Roadmachine a more capable bike is contradicting the goal of making a fast bike.

- Increasing the tire capacity from 33mm to 40mm should increase the chainstays length almost by 7mm. As they were 412mm on the previous gen, they only end at 415mm on this new version.
We have therefore used some subterfuge to keep the chainstays as short as possible with the design of our new thinner seat tube.

- Big tires should mean thinner chainstays and seatstays. In order to provide the bike the expected stiffness, we changed how the seatstays are connected to the seat tube (a bit like the Teammachine R 01), we refined the shapes and layup of the chainstays-to-bottom-bracket connection. At the front, the fork keeps the same height as before and gets a wider internal clearance maintaining the crown outter shape almost as wide in profile.

- Adding a storage opening in the downtube is not ideal for stiffness. But we couldn't imagine our Endurance platform with a proper storage solution. We challenged design and manufacturing technics to make the storage opening lightweight, stiff and even aerodynamic with our integrated bottle cage design (delivered on 01, optional on the entry level models).

- Giving the Roadmachine 40mm tire clearance is opening light gravel tire options. This means that the bike is now ASTM2 compliant and gives you all the confidence to ride trails. Thought, we kept the weight down to 963g for the frame (54 painted).

Gen 3 provides up to 40 mm measured, with 4 mm of margin (ISO). Gen 2 was limited to 33 mm.
34mm with SHIMANO Ultegra (front derailleur Di2 cable).
36mm with SRAM AXS and other SHIMANO Di2 drivetrains.

AMP models are limited to 38 mm.

The first year, stock tyres were 30mm on the road specs, 34mm on the X versions (light gravel specs).
Later, Roadmachine went to 32 and 34mm tire clearance.

Single cranks work very well on tough rides when you need a maximum of gear range and low gear ratio. It's ideal on some rides and for some riders bt not for everyone.
2x groupsets are still the main choice for road riders as riding in group and on the road will always require the right gear with small and consistent gear gaps.

The new ICS Carbon EVO is taking the same BMC "Integrated Cable System" design and compatibility standard but brings new features. First, the refined geometry provides a higher stack and a more progressive drop bend. The higher stack is +20mm at the hoods. But you won't notice it as it's visually hidden thanks to the nice work of our Design Team. Transition from tops to brake lever hoods is straighter than on the previous model. The drops are proving 6° of flare and the refined drop bend allows better grip when riding in the drops while braking, sprinting or keeping your hands in the lowest point. From a technical standpoint, the bar is easier to assemble with bigger hose and cable ingress ports.
